Are you struggling on how to take your own photos? The truth is you can take pretty pictures of yourself when you’re a solo traveler, or even couple pictures with the two of you on the shot. You don’t need an IG boyfriend/husband or a photographer to get the perfect IG photo when you are on a trip. Most of the times I travel by my own, so I don’t have someone to take pictures of me. This might take some time at the beginning but with some patience and practice, you will get it.
4 items to master solo photography
Tripod: This is a must-have for shooting your own photos. There are hundreds of tripods out there; I would recommend one that is sturdy enough to hold your camera, height adjustable for more flexibility and foldable so it’s easy to carry. I currently use a Manfrotto Tripod.
Intervalometer: This little device is a game changer and it’s really easy to use. You plug it into your camera, set up how many shots you want and how often you want them. That’s it. As I have a Canon EOS Rebel, I use a JJC Intervalometer.
Self-timer: This is a common method you can find in most cameras, even smart phones have this option. You set your camera, hit the timer and run into place. The down part about this is that options might be limited and you may be running back and forth until you get the shot.
Remote: If you have a wifi/bluetooth enabled camera, great. You can download the corresponding app and you will be able to remotely control the shutter of the camera and see what your camera sees from your phone. Or you can get a remote and snap pictures even when you’re away from the camera.
But most importantly, have fun. You got this!
