Seattle is undeniably one of the most captivating cities in the United States. Its unique blend of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and bustling urban life creates an unforgettable experience for visitors. Having personally immersed myself in this dynamic city, I can confidently say that Seattle is a destination that will leave you enchanted. In this Seattle Travel Guide, I’ll share valuable travel tips to ensure your visit is nothing short of extraordinary.
When to visit Seattle
Seattle is known for its rain for sure, but the good thing is that it doesn’t rain every day of the year. While the winter months are definitely gloomy and rainy, summer is beautiful! The best time to visit it’s from June to October, which are the driest months. Keep in mind that crowds and prices will be higher.
Spring and fall are great season to visit Seattle. The rain chances will be higher than summer but you can experience cherry blossoms in spring and fall folliage in fall. Plus, the crowds and prices won’t be as high.
How to move around Seattle
From the airport: If you are looking for the most cost-effective and efficient way to get to and from the airport, the Link Light Rail is for you. The train arrives every 6-15 min and it takes about 40 min, depending on where you need to get to in downtown.
To get to the train station you have to cross one of the Skybridges towards the parking garage. This is located one floor above baggage claim. Once you cross the bridge turn left and walk like 10 min till you find the station. Purchase your ticket at the vending machine, depending on your destination it can go from $2.25 to $3.25, and that’s it!
Around the city: there are many options to move around. You can walk everywhere or take public transportation, or Uber/Lyft as most places are easily accessible. I don’t recommend renting a car unless you plan to take a day trip to the mountains.
Where to stay in Seattle
This beautiful city has a lot to offer. That’s why it’s important to pick the best place to stay.
Here are some areas I recommend:
Downtown: This is one of the best places to stay. It’s perfect for sightseeing and getting around to other parts of the city due to its convenient location. I stayed at Motif Seattle in downtown, 100% recommended. Super cute boutique hotel close to all the main attraction. Check availability here
Capitol Hill: This area is more youthful and hipster. Here you can find artisanal coffee houses, great restaurants, many thrift shops, and the best art galleries and music vibe.
Queen Anne: A lively area full of historic houses, boutique shops, and fine dining restaurants. This area contains some of the most main attractions like Space Needle and the Museum of Pop Culture.
