Kanazawa, also known as little Kyoto, is one of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Japan. Unlike the bustling larger cities like Tokyo, it is full of traditional houses and historic structures. Many travelers visit it to experience its Japanese culture, history, or architecture. Among Kanazawa’s most famous sights is Kanazawa Castle; the Kenrokuen Japanese Garden, one of the top three gardens in Japan; the beautifully preserved Geisha district, temples, a local market, and a ton of interesting museums.
Here are some things you can do in Kanazawa:
Kenroku-en Garden
Kenroku-en is one of Japan’s three most beautiful gardens. This place is a must in Kanazawa and you can just wander around and discover the place by your own. It is totally worth the visit as this place has its uniqueness and beauty each season

Kanazawa Castle
After you finished exploring Kenroku-en Garden, cross the bridge to make a quick stop at Kanazawa Castle. There is not that much to see inside the castle, just some exhibits showing the traditional wooden construction method used to rebuild the castle.

21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art
This museum is known for its contemporary design and showcases the best contemporary pieces from all over the world; its most famous work is “The Swimming Pool”.

Opening Hours: 10:00-18:00 (until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays). Close on Monday.

Higashi Chaya Area
This lovely neighborhood is full of beautiful preserved geisha houses, restaurants and teahouses. This is a great place to end you evening after a day exploring Kanazawa. Go for a stroll along the streets, have a cup of Matcha green tea, and do some souvenir shopping.

Omicho Market
Omicho Market is a great place to have lunch in Kanazawa. This vibrant market offers the best local food including fresh seafood, sushi platter, sashimi rice bowl, snack, and lots of local products. If you are not sure where to stop, Mori Mori sushi is a popular place.
